1084. On the border.

In November and December 2022, the Documentary Film Festival “1084. On the border” took place.

The festival consisted of two parts: offline – in Kyiv, Lviv and Odessa where we showed Belarusian films; online – Ukrainian films for Belarusians who are in Belarus.

The name of the Festival is inspired by the length of the border between the two countries – 1084 kilometers. On the border – conveys not only the direct meaning but also the fragility of relations between two nations after the invasion of Ukraine from the territory of Belarus.

The festival team tried to contemplate on the future of relations, discuss relationships between people, develop horizontal ties, and inform both sides about the current situation in the countries.

The screenings in Ukraine were held on ‘a free donation’ basis. The collected money (one thousand euros) was transferred and used for the purchase of consumables for VAC-therapy of the wounded in Ukraine.

In addition to the screenings, visitors of the Festival had an opportunity to attend the meetings with the soldiers of the Kastus Kalinoŭski Regiment and an exhibition of posters against the Russian world by Uladzimir Cesler.
